The hapless domain name Video.us has changed hands once again. It was purchased in April, 2007 by a European company, which paid $75,000 for it. That was the biggest .us sale this far. Then the most extraordinary thing happened and the domain name was dropped where it was catched by the famous Pool.com.

The owner of the domain name video.us was found to breach the law failing against the registry’s Nexus requirements. To cut the long story short, you can hold a .us domain only if you are a US citizen or have a business registered within States.

This was one of the biggest mistakes made in domain industry within recent years. Also Afternic – the company which sold the Videous domain name – is under a question. They shouldn’t have sold the name to a company that is not registered in USA.

However, video.us has a new owner today (February 4, 2008). The auction at Pool.com has just finished and the domain name went for USD 18,500. Total of 14 bidders took part in the auction. The winner said his last word 5 minutes before the end of the auction beating the runner up by USD 3,250.
