This spring has been full of surprises. Worldwide internet community seems to go from strength to strength. Domain industry feels especially healthy. With RU (Russia) and IE (Ireland) already celebrating their million domain name registrations, CA (Canada) joins in as well.

It was announced last week by Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) that the millionth CA domain name has been registered.

The CA domain name was assigned in 1987 and initially managed by a group of students and volunteers of the British Columbia University. It took almost 20 years to reach million domain name registrations and the biggest boom has taken place during the previous couple of years when Canadian domain saw annual growth of 20%.

Population of Canada is estimated to 32,3 million. Almost 17 million of Canadians use internet for personal reasons making Canada one of the world’s most wired countries.

The millionth CA domain name is that of Brent Krause, a Canadian lawyer who registered KrausLaw.ca. The proud registrar of this domain name is Internic.ca, Canada’s first official registrar.

Now, who will be the next to bring good news?
