Czech Domain Names CZ - Popular
filed in Domain Registration on Mar.20, 2008
Since the Czech domain governing body eased the rules to allow everyone registering CZ domain names, the number of applications have skyrocketed. On March 16 CZ.NIC celebrated the 400,000 names threshold with champagne and fireworks. It is a great result for a European country that is slowly but steadily gaining attention as a place where it is safe and easy to do business. More and more Czech people get connected to internet and many individuals register their domain names.
According to the CZ.NIC registration rules, any company or individual, no matter if Czech or foreign, is allowed to register any number of domain names in the .CZ zone.
The last six months have seen 74,000 new .CZ domain names registered. Now the ratio of businesses and individuals owning a Czech domain have balanced to 50/50. Where before CZ zone was known as being boring and corporate-minded, now it is becoming fresh and interesting.
You can also get your foot on Czech ground by registering a .CZ domain name at http://www.domena.cz/domain/easy.html or other registrar of your choice (see the second url in this post).
If you manage to understand the registration process (which is pretty intuitive) you will get a CZ name for USD 17, whereas some English speaking “registrars” are charging USD 70 and more!
Please beware of persons that are not registered with official Czech registrar. You can check the official list at: http://www.nic.cz/whois/registrars/
DO NOT register your domain name with anyone who is not on this list. Otherwise you will lose your name eventually.
