New Extension .CR from Costa Rica

Finally the registration of domains .cr in Costa Rica is open for general public, this adds up to other 7 extensions from this country like co.cr, or.cr and ac.cr.
The approval of the domain name extension .CR confirms the tendency of Latin America to create extensions in first level which allow to utilize shorter web addresses and easier to memorize.
Some other countries already have the extension on first level, like Bolivia (.bo), Chile (.cl), Cuba (.cu), Ecuador (.ec), Peru (.pe) and Puerto Rico (.pr) and we hope many new countries add to the initiative that facilitates the access to the Latin American cyberspace.

You can register Costa Rica domain names visiting NameAction website. According to NIC.cr - the official administrative body of CR - the Costa Rica domain can be registered by foreigners but NIC.cr still intend to protect local trademarks and intellectual property.
