Well, I know you love a bit of domain statistics from time to time. Here’s what is happening in Latin America. During October the higher growth of domain names in absolute values are following:

This Saturday (October 18, 2008) Nic Brazil will free more than 100.000 domains being available for registration by anyone.

LatinoamerICANN published its monthly report with domain name statistics in Latin America for September 2008.
One of the main points is that the region at last exceeded the amount of 4,000,000 domain names delegated and it represents a growth of 17,87% from the beginning of the year.

The Ministry of Communications in Colombia has prepared the Resolution, which regulates the management of domains in Colombia. At this moment the process to initiate the Tender is pending. The following are most important points:

On September 8th the first stage of registration with Ñ, special characters, accents and Portuguese characters has started. This domain registration stage will end on December 16th 2008.

Those who participated in Indian domain TLD registration landrush in 2006 and fancied to register a naughty domain name were stopped by a nasty surprise.
