According to statistics published by Nominet, the official governing body for UK domain names, the British online community shows a healthy upturn. With almost 150,000 UK domain names registered every month, oh, man, that’s 4 registrations each and every minute, Britain is currently one of the most active segments of domain industry.

In February, 2008, 144,240 .UK domain names were registered or if we want to be specific:

ORG.UK - 8,318
ME.UK - 1,929
LTD.UK - 142
SCH.UK - 29
PLC.UK - 4
and NET.UK - 2 names.

Renewals also maintain a healthy 71% rate. About 180,000 .UK domain names are due for renewal each months and in the region of 130,000 names are getting renewed.

Currently the UK domain band contains 6,654,263 domain names (Year ago there were only 5,8 million UK names) and Britain has the Top3 country specific domain with Germany (.DE) being the first and China (.CN) the second.



United Kingdom is also keen on IP addresses. Britain with 273,481,470 IP addresses in use is the second biggest IP user in the world after USA.

This boom within Britain’s internet community means that the country develops an interest in online business, people in Britain are keen online shoppers and taking into consideration the fact that .UKs are available for registrations for nationals of other countries, Britain’s domain attracts a steady international interest.
