uTest Social Network for Testers
filed in Internet Business on Aug.20, 2008
Do you like testing new things? I mean testing like program testing not wine tasting. It is different. A new testing community has opened its services. It is called uTest and if you sign up as a tester, you will actually get paid for your services.
The scheme is quite straightforward. The company wishing to test their software, website or product signs up with uTest and pays in something around $2,000 and specifies the testing requirements. The testers get paid a portion of the money and the client gets his product tested. Everyone is happy.
Let me put it this way: in order to release a successful software product, you need it tested or de-bugged. To employ an in-house team is very expensive, to skip the testing stage is even more expensive because if you sell a program that is full of bugs you get busy issuing refunds.
Customers of uTest include 888.com, IncrediMail, RepairPal and Boomi amongst others.
At the moment of publishing this article there are 8850 testers within the community, representing 137 countries and they have helped to destroy 4330 bugs in total! One third of the community is based in USA, the other third is in India, some 9% in Britain and then there are other countries too. For more information visit uTest.
